ISIS Top Commander Trained By USA

Gulmurod Khalimov has become the top ISIS battlefield commander in Iraq.

He may prove to be a thorn in the side of the West, for unfortunately he has been trained by the USA.

As per ZeroHedge:

"What makes the ascent of Khalimov particularly embarrassing for the US is that The former paramilitary unit commander of the Tajikistan armed forces received his battlefield training from American advisors and even came to the United States on several occasions to receive special counterterrorism training through the US State Department’s Diplomatic Security/Anti-Terrorism Assistance program. 

Then last year, Khalimov defected to ISIS where the Daesh forces in Iraq welcomed the new addition to their ranks with open arms especially since he was acquainted with US military and intelligence tactics."

Still, so long as the USA military industrial complex makes money out of this mess who cares?

"The Iraqi government has declared three days of national mourning after a huge bomb in Baghdad killed 165 people and injured 225 others.

A lorry packed with explosives was detonated in the Karrada district while families were shopping for the holiday marking the end of Ramadan. 

Rescuers said whole families had been wiped out and many victims were burned beyond recognition.

The Origins of The "Strategic Asset" AKA ISIS

What Was The Point of Regime Change?

Given that Iraq's city of Ramadi appears to have fallen to IS, can someone please explain why the enforced regime change of Iraq was such a good idea for the people of the region?

Apparently the response to the capture of Ramadi is the use of Iranian backed militias.

It seems that, according to Zerohedge, almost all the top leaders in the Islamic State are former officers in the Iraqi army.

Enforced regime change has kicked in a hornet's nest of problems, that people seem unable to resolve.

Back To The Future - Whither Victory?

Now that we are bombing Iraq again, this time at the invitation of its government, has anyone in authority yet come up with a definition of "victory"?

In other news, it seems that Islamic State militants are six miles from Baghdad.

Partition Coming?

Whilst the appointment of Haidar al-Abadi as replacement Prime Minister to Nuri al-Maliki (if the appointment actually sticks) may placate the Americans, it remains to be seen if the man is able to bring back Iraq from the brink of partition.

History is not on his side.

Mission Accomplished - Not!

The US is continuing with air and drone strikes against ISIS in Iraq, and Obama has warned that this will take some time.

Thus we have come full circle, having knocked over a regime and destabilised a country without any plan for post conflict stabilisation, the only other option that can be applied is an ongoing military operation in the futile hope that something will "come along" and fix this mess.

The US appears to be bombing artillery it paid for after it was abandoned to the enemy by troops the US paid to train.

Over 5,000 Civilians Killed This Year

Lest the world be distracted by Ukraine and Gaza, it should also be remembered that Iraq is falling apart.

Reuters reports that the UN has stated that at least 5,576 Iraqi civilians have been killed this year in violence.

Additionally, at least 11,665 have been wounded since January.
